Learn moreThe Dinu Theodorescu Archaeological Laboratory (LADT) operates within the Faculty of History at the University of Bucharest, but brings together specialists from several institutions in Romania and abroad. We coordinate systematic research at Histria ACS (Acropolis Centre-South) and MAB (Beidaud Archaeological Microzone), two important archaeological sites in Romania, and provide students with hands-on fieldwork experience.

Director — Prof. dr. habil.
Prof. dr. habil. Valentin Bottez leads the Dinu Theodorescu Archaeological Laboratory and coordinates systematic research at Histria and Beidaud. A specialist in the history and archaeology of the Greek world around the Black Sea, he has published extensively in international journals and directed dozens of excavation campaigns.
University Lecturer — Histria Research Lead
Lect. univ. dr. Alexandra Târlea coordinates research in the sacred zone of Histria, focusing on temples and altars from the archaic and classical periods. Her doctorate, obtained at the University of Bucharest, made essential contributions to understanding the religious topography of the city.
University Assistant dr. — Conservation and Restoration
Asis. univ. dr. Iulia Iliescu oversees the conservation and restoration of materials discovered during the Histria and Beidaud campaigns. An expert in the conservation of ancient ceramics and metals, she collaborates with laboratories in France and Germany for isotopic analysis of artefacts.
University Lecturer dr. — Interdisciplinary Research
Lect. univ. dr. Alexandra Litu conducts interdisciplinary research within the laboratory, focusing on the relationship between built space and social practices in Antiquity. She contributes to coordinating LADT’s educational and public outreach activities.
